Identity theft can happen to anyone, anytime, and is one of the fastest-growing crimes in America. Often, victims of identity theft aren’t even aware that their identity has been stolen. Identity theft is a serious crime, and it can take hundreds of dollars and quite a bit of time to repair your reputation and good credit. To help you prevent identity theft from happening to you, below is some important information. In addition, we’ve included links to resources to help guide you if your identity has already been stolen.
Beware of scammers trying to obtain your personal and/or account information
Attempts by cybercriminals to obtain your personal information is increasingly on the rise. Scammers may try to trick you into providing your personal or account information in many ways, including via phone calls, emails, and text messages. Oftentimes, the person on the other end of the call may sound convincing, and the content in the emails and text messages may sound credible and trustworthy.
Before you provide information to anyone…
It is important to remember that Allegent will never initiate a call, email, or text asking you for personal information or account information such as:
Your social security number
Your debit/credit card number, PIN, or CVV
Your member number or account number
Your online or mobile banking information
Your passwords or secret/security questions and answers
If you receive any emails or texts asking you for personal or account information, do not click on any of the links. And never share your personal- or account-related information with anyone by phone unless you initiated the call to Allegent and are certain you are communicating with an Allegent representative.
What to do if you believe you may be a victim of a scam
If you believe you may have disclosed your personal or account information to someone you suspect to be a scammer, whether by phone, email, text message, or social media, you should immediately change your Allegent online banking Username and Password.
You can lock your debit or credit card to prevent future purchases with Allegent Card Manager, which is integrated with our Mobile Banking app. You can download the free Allegent Mobile Banking app from the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store. To learn more, visit our Card Manager page.
